چکیده

A technique of producing intrarenal obstruction in the rabbit has been described in detail elsewhere.' In brief, it consists of the insertion of a wire through the surface of the kidney into the papilla or low medulla. Cautery current is then applied, producing a localized thermal injury about 2 mm. in diameter around the tip of the wire. The result is obstruction of a wedge of nephrons. The tubular changes after one week consist of tubular dilatation and atrophy.8 Glomeruli are not altered. After two to four months, atrophic tubules predominate, but many dilated tubules lined with flattened epithelium can still be found. In some areas there is dilatation of Bowman's capsule to approximately twice its normal diameter. A modification of this procedure was employed in a group of rabbits in order to produce renal insufficiency. Three burns were placed in the papilla of the left kidney of eight animals. After two to four months the kidneys were removed for histological and bacteriological study and blood samples obtained for the determination of urea nitrogen (BUN).

Renal Hydatid Cyst in a 50-year-old woman: A Case Report

Introduction: Hydatidosis (hydatid cyst) is one of the most common infectious diseases between humans and animals that it is created by parasite (tapeworm) the echinococcusgranulosus larvae, which randomly infects an individual to one or more cysts. The hydatid cyst can affect all organs. The most common sites of involvement is liver and lung and rarely other organs, such as the kidneys, the br...

Study of the Mechanism and Causes of Pore Formation in Sr-modified Al-Si Alloys

The formation of microporosity in modified Al-Si alloys has been reviewed in the present study. A major concern in modification is the increased tendency to form microporosity in the macro-shrinkage free Al-Si alloy castings. It has also been demonstrated that at low hydrogen contents (0.1cc/ 100g, Al), where only shrinkage porosity should occur, the effect of Sr-modification on porosity conten...

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) occurs by germline mutation in PKD1 or PKD2. Evidence of homozygous inactivation of either gene in human cyst lining cells as well as in mouse knockout models strongly supports a two-hit mechanism for cyst formation. Discovery of trans-heterozygous mutations in PKD1 and PKD2 in a minority of human renal cysts has led to the proposal that such...

The Molecular Basis of Focal Cyst Formation in Human Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease Type I

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a common disease and an important cause of renal failure. It is characterized by considerable intrafamilial phenotypic variation and focal cyst formation. To elucidate the molecular basis for these observations, we have developed a novel method for isolating renal cystic epithelia from single cysts and have used it to show that individual ...
